2010
I brought in 2010 at Sacred Lands on Boca Ciega Bay in St. Petersburg with about twenty-five friends of Doris and Erik Anderson. We had a potluck dinner in the greenhouse/Indian museum, then arranged our chairs in a circle to write down and share our past year's achievements and next year's vows and intentions. We then moved outside to be under the blue moon at midnight. Our action scenario was releasing the mistakes and failures of the past year by casting sea salt into the flames of a campfire after encircling it in dances of universal peace. We then moved to the dock to meet the midnight moment casting dried hibiscus leaves into the bay expressing our hopes and longings for the new year and new era. The full moon was brilliant passing among the wispy clouds. The group then moved to the second blazing firepit to affirm our individual intentions clearing and cleansing our minds and hearts for future action with sacred Indian sage and evergreen twigs. I felt tremendous warmth and acceptance among everyone there, even those met for the first time. There was no drinking, no raucous noise, little superficiality.
